Indira Leneman

Laroye is a choreographer, professional dancer, and dance instructor born and raised in Havana, Cuba. She got her BA in dance from the Formación de Artistas para el Turismo & Escuela de Ballet y Danza Tropicana partnership in 2010, but started her dance training when she was 13 years old, at the Ballet de Danza y Teatro Tony Menendez.  Since then, she has performed on several stages in Cuba and other countries, such as, USA, Mexico, & Brazil.  

When she moved to Los Angeles in 2017, Laroye joined Viver Brasil Dance Company, and began her training in Brazilian dances, especially Afro-Brazilian.  She has been a student of important teachers and artists from Brazil like Vera Passos, Rosangela Silvestre, Luiz Badaro, Carlinhos Salgueiro, Vania Liveira, Jonia de Santana, and many others.

 She has worked with several Cuban and American dance and theater companies and has performed on TV shows such as Verano en TV, Premios Lucas 2003-2004, 23 Y M, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and The Late Late Show with James Corden. She has worked with world-renowned choreographers such as Chloe Arnold, Jesus Aponte, Vera Passos, Tony Menedez, and Tomas Morales.

Laroye has taught in international festivals, dance studios & academies, colleges, and universities like UCLA, USC, CSUSB, Mount Saint Mary’s University, and CSU Fullerton. As a choreographer, she won a dance residency at the Yard in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts along with Ephrat Asherie Dance Company. In 2021 she founded Ocandeniye Dance Company, for which she has created an extensive repertoire. In addition, she has been retained as choreographer, and teaching consultant, for the non-profit organization Conga Kids, who commissioned an educational show called, “Discover the Dispora”, for which she was a co-creator.  The program, which showcases Cuban dance and music culture, is presented in school assemblies all across LA and Orange counties.
