Olá Comunidade! Hello Community!

What's New?

  • We are sending love to Dona Cici!!!

Dear Beautiful Community of Friends that know and love our most wise and loving elder, Dona Cici.

As many of you know she has had a very emotionally challenging last  week. On Thursday, May 7, she lost her brother to Covid 19 in Rio.

On Tuesday, May 12, she lost her momma. Dona Dulce was 105 1/2 years old and passed in Rio from natural causes.

As you can only imagine, her heart is broken with loss. She was so hoping to spend Mother’s Day with Dona Dulce and have the opportunity to see her brother, Carlinhos who suffered a stroke last year and was bedridden,  Unfortunately, COVID-19 overtook our world and prevented Dona Cici from traveling.

She has been under strict quarantine/shelter in place in Bahia as she is considered at high risk because of her age (80), health conditions of diabetes and high blood pressure. Despite these issues, she is managing well and taking very good care of herself with the help of her adopted family. As you know she is originally from Rio and that is where the remainder of her family is.
Badaró and I have spoken with her everyday as are many others to uplift her spirits.  She welcomes visits to her gated door of her home as well as phone calls! We are encouraging her to try the WhatsApp application, but she is still hesitant to take the leap!

So many of you have experienced her here in LA and/or in Bahia–her peaceful loving kindness  her extraordinary knowledge as a storyteller, dancer, and singer. Her love of sharing her culture is like no other. She sees her purpose in life, to serve Orixa and to teach others.  And now we believe she needs YOUR LOVE by sending ecards, videos, emails with LOVING words of support and condolences.  At this moment Brazil is not accepting international mail so ecards, emails, videos and notes of any length will be so welcomed.  Feel free to write in English, Portuguese and/or Spanish or write in English and paste in the google translation to your note. She will be so appreciative. Words of support are keeping her spirits high and your encouragement will soothe her hurting heart and spirit.

You may send your kind thoughts to: info@viverbrasil.com and we will make sure she receives your outpouring of love. You may also call her at 011-55-71-3261-3400 (her landline). Bahia is 4 hours ahead of PST.

If you could take time to complete this loving request by May 24, 2020 we would be very appreciative.

With deep gratitude,

Linda, Ba, Giavanni and the Viver Brasil family of artists and administrators
