The streets will be shaking with the sounds of the surdo in Leimert Park on March 12, 2016.
We are so thrilled to announce a partnership with KAOS Network in Leimert Park and the funding of the City of Los Angeles, Department of Cultural of Affairs we will be in residence Saturdays and Mondays, March 12 - April 24th.
Led by Viver Brasil artists: Kahlil Cummings and Luiz Badaró- drumming; Laila Abdullah, Rachel Hernandez and Linda Yudin, the 12 session workshop will introduce you to the funky rhythms of samba reggae, a staple in roots Carnaval of Bahia, Brazil.
This workshop is FREE and open to the public. Yes, you read that right. Spreading the joy of samba is huge for us. Please bring a drum if you have one and come prepared to sweat. Wear shoes with some spring, cause we are gonna get it!
Oh yeah...the April 24th? YOU WILL SAMBA IN THE STREETS. We'll share the love with the neighborhood of Leimert Park, taking everything we learned out to the people. Come be a part of this community healing party. See you on Saturday, March 12th, 12:30 pm!
