VB is grateful to Cal Arts Council for awarding us FOUR grants that will help us keep vital programs going through June 2021!!
 
  • the Local Impact grant allows us to continue offering our Monday night community dance classes for FREE!
  • the Arts Education grant helps us to continue our artist residency programs at Audubon & Foshay middle schools
  • the Arts Education Exposure grant helps us to provide 15 Celebrating Samba shows to schools across Los Angeles, and
  • the Organizational Development grant facilitates our work to refresh our Brand with clear and concise messaging!

SAMBA IN THE STREETS IS BACK...ONLINE!
Our Samba in the Streets project has been inspired by the Bahian Bloco Afro Movement which affirms the ideologies of social justice, racial, social and economic equity through the inclusionary Afro-Brazilian cultural practices of dance and music!  We honor the ancestral wisdom of the orixa dance and rhythms which informed the new contemporary dance forms called bloco afro or samba reggae.   

Workshops feature VB teaching artists and amazing guests: Shelby Williams Gonzalez, Avila Santo, Luiz Badaró, Guellwaar Adun, Zé Ricardo.

*These workshops have something for everyone - novice and experienced alike!*  

Join us on Wednesdays ONLINE starting on May 20, 2020!

Percussion: 5pm - 5:45pm on IG (@viverbrasildance)  
Dance: 6pm - 6:45pm (on Zoom)

Join us next Monday, May 11 (and every Monday this month) to be blessed with the prodigious talents of Vera Passos, Viver Brasil's Associate Artistic Director!  

Since VB transitioned to online classes we have reached dancers all over the US and communities in 15 countries, 29 states, and 219 zip codes in California!
 
Join our global community this Monday night 
at 6:30pm! 
 
**The community class is going to remain at 6:30pm PST until we are back in person.**
